STREAM OF CONSCIOUSNESS WRITING

Stream of consciousness writing is also referred to as: first thought writing, automatic writing or flow writing.  It is simply writing without stopping and without thinking about what is being written.  It is very effective as a timed exercise.  Remember to:

  1. Keep your hand moving
  2. Don't edit
  3. Don't worry about grammar and punctuation
  4. Don't think, just let go and go for it

If questions arise while you are writing, answer them immediately without thinking.  (What excites me about this opportunity? What excites me is…)

Set a timer for 5 minutes.  Use these prompts to get started:

  • Who am I?
  • Why am I in physical form?
  • What gives my life meaning?
  • What am I afraid of?
  • How do I create a deeply fulfilling life experience?
  • What is truly important?
  • What beliefs can I release, that no longer serve me?
  • What lies deep in my soul that desires expression?
  • How can I make a difference?
